One of these things is not like the other...

She figured she would sort through her shirts and get rid of a few while she was looking for one for the party. A flash of band logos and other written tee’s went by as she pushed them aside in her closet, eyes flickering over them. A sweater she never wore went into the ‘to go’ pile, as did a few other items, though once or twice she reached for them back.

“Why don’t you get rid of those? You never wear them, anyways.” Jared was still trying to make himself comfortable among the stuffed animals and pillows that littered her bed.

“I wear them… Sometimes. Besides, I like them.” Iris responded, smiling faintly at a holey, faded, black shirt with a ‘Meatloaf’ reference on it. Sure enough, the logo was printed on the back. “Some of these I sleep in… Others, friends gave them to me and I don’t want to give them up.” 

“If you keep that up, the pile’s never going to get bigger, and you’re never going to find a shirt. Imagine what the Seelie Princess would say if she saw you wearing a shirt with the logo for a horror movie on it? ‘Oh! I saw that when it came out in theaters!’” Jared’s tone was the epitome of sarcasm, and he threw a pillow at her as if to prove his point.  

“Ha ha, very funny smart-mouth. I know I’ve got a few nicer ones in here… I mean, my grandma does like leaving things in here to hope I’ll find. Like… This.” She held up a modestly-cut black top that bunched up slightly below the bust to accent a shape. Fortunately for Iris, she had the shape to show. “How’s this, oh Seelie Fashion Expert?”

Jared stared at the shirt for a few long moments, as if trying to decide if it was going to fly off the hanger at him or not. “It works. Certainly not… ‘I was invited by the Princess’, but definitely better than anything else you’ve got in there. I think the fey might actually look at you,” he smirked.

“Oh, shut up Fesser! Now, get out of my room!”

I now have all four of the Mortal Instruments books, and then the first of the Infernal Devices :3

But, I swear, if Cassandra Clare ever went to a convention I was going to… I would totally cosplay a character from her books… Maybe even draw fanart for her (and make a copy for her to sign for myself, of course)

I think I want to start working on my drawing skills on scenery; buildings, plants, etc…. A lot of the things I love in her books is all the imagery she gives us- not only for the story, or the characters, but the places she shows us in them. It would be nice to have a giant poster of the Glass City on my wall, or something…
